Hong Kong has proven to be admirable venue for Nepalese literature and music in diaspora. Hong Kong Nepalese have already organized literature workshop with IB Rai and has held musical program with Amber Gurung.

The Himalayan Tones Music Academy had conferred title of MAHASANGEETKAR to Mr. Gurung during Amber Gurung Ratri held in 1st Jan of 2014. Dinesh Subba, veteran music composer and director of Himalayan Tones,  was born in Tamseng district of Darjeeling  5 decades ago. He has been acting to bridge different generations and artists from Nepal, Hong Kong and India. Dinesh migrated to Nepal and made good reputation with his famous numbers in Radio Nepal. He has been living in Hong Kong for almost 2 decades now. Subba is currently teaching music in his academy and in some of the local schools.

Launching his second album “Nitant- Sunne Haru Ko Lagi”, he declared that Himalayan Tones will commemorate the great poet and lyricist Norden Rumba on 25th of May for his contributions. Subba’s students will sing the songs penned by late Norden Rumba. Those will include “Mera Sabai Raat Aba”, “Phul laai Sodhein”, “Badalu ko darbar ma” and songs from  “Bachna Chahane Haru”. Also, the poems of Rumba will be recited by local poets in the program.

Himalayan Tones has also developed webportal www.Nordenrumba.blogspot.com to compile and distribute information about him. Dinesh says that this kind of program will set tradition in the community to respect and remember the important figures like Rumba and appreciate their works.
